Medical Biochemistry

Laboratories are branches of science that do not only produce test results, but support clinical decision making, and provide various services such as diagnosis, development and prevention of disease. Statistical data show that the majority of medical decisions are made taking into account laboratory results. Therefore, laboratories are of great importance in the conduct of health care.

Atlas University Hospital Biochemistry and Microbiology Laboratory aims to provide the most accurate, reliable and short time medical laboratory services with the most up-to-date devices, competent personnel and experienced expert staff, by closely following the latest technological developments within the framework of today’s modern medical understanding.

The most important priority of our laboratory is quality and “Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute” standards are followed in the test studies and 6 Sigma Methodology is applied. With the internal quality control program, the accuracy, repeatability of the test results and the international conformity of the results are checked with different national and international external quality control program memberships, especially EQAS, RIQAS, LABPT, UKNEQAS, KBUDEK. The necessary trainings are constantly being renewed for all laboratory employees.

Analyzes of blood biochemistry are carried out in the biochemistry department. Blood glucose and sugar loading tests, inflammation markers (CRP, hsCRP, PROCALCITONIN) blood lipid panel, HbA1c (HPLC), kidney function tests, liver function tests, electrolytes are examined.

In the Hormone Department, reproductive hormones, thyroid hormones, specific hormones, vitamins are studied. In the same unit, measurements of tumor markers, hepatitis B, C and HIV are performed in the blood, which provides information about the research of the entire system in terms of the presence of cancer. Hepatitis B, C and HIV tests are evaluated by studying two different methods.

In the Hematology-Coagulation Department, comprehensive tests are studied, which include multi-parameter blood count, sedimentation, detection of bleeding and coagulation disorders.

In the Cardiac Markers Unit; emergency parameters that are looked at in heart attack are studied. Urine Biochemistry is studied in an autoanalyzer with a fully automatic microscopic imaging system.

In the Clinical Microbiology Department, bacteriology (bacteria), virology (virus), mycology (fungus), parasitology (parasite), serology (the science investigating antibodies against microorganisms in the blood), Covid-19 Pcr, IgG / IgM antibody tests are performed.

Biochemistry and Microbiology Laboratory has succeeded in maximizing the quality of service offered by collaborating with reference laboratories for special tests (GENETICS, PATHOLOGY AND CYTOPATOLOGY) used in diagnosis, research and follow-ups.

In the Clinical Biochemistry laboratory, analyzes are performed on all biological materials in order to diagnose diseases, differential diagnosis, determine the severity of a disease, monitor the recovery of a disease, and reveal an asymptomatic disease.

Our aim is to support the diagnosis of diseases and to ensure that all processes from biochemistry, hematology, immunology, hormone, serology, clinical microscopy, virology tests are carried out accurately, on time and in a controlled manner, from the arrival of the sample to the notification of the result.

Our laboratory is at the service of our patients with devices that are constantly followed by the world of science and technology. The tests performed in our laboratory are concluded as soon as possible. Samples taken from patients can be preserved and used again when necessary. In our laboratory, results are given to our patients as soon as possible with reliable methods accepted by the medical world.
