Edema is the accumulation of fluid in the body due to various reasons. While the body requires a high level of water content, excess water outside the tissues can cause swelling and indicate the presence of edema in various parts of the body.

Edema can occur in circulatory system diseases, heart diseases, kidney diseases, liver diseases, digestive disorders, pregnancy, and the use of certain medications.

Other factors that can contribute to edema include excessive salt consumption, menstruation in women, inadequate water intake, sedentary lifestyle, unbalanced nutrition leading to sudden weight gain, and constipation problems. In fact, during weight loss processes, edema can increase due to fat metabolism processes, even if the overall weight in the body decreases. If you have edema that is increased by similar environmental factors, you can use diuretic foods, beverages, and supplements. However, it is important not to consume diuretic substances without proper knowledge in cases where edema is caused by any underlying medical condition or medication.

You can observe edema in your body, especially in the wrists and ankles, and professional body analysis devices can also help visualize it.
